McGraw Hill’s higher education and school district customers who have a Microsoft 365 Copilot license will be able to access McGraw Hill’s trusted course materials through Copilot to create personalized study aids, lesson plans, learning tools and other resources grounded in McGraw Hill’s pedagogical approach.
McGraw Hill is among the first major education companies to make its proprietary K-12, higher education and professional learning content available to Copilot users through Model Context Protocol (MCP), a standard that allows AI tools like Copilot to securely connect with external content and systems.
Educators and students affiliated with McGraw Hill’s higher education and school district customers who have enterprise use of Copilot will have the ability to access McGraw Hill content via the Microsoft 365 Copilot plugin to summarize, translate and adapt the course materials they license to generate additional resources, study aids and lesson plans connected to their courses.
The launch of McGraw Hill’s Copilot plugin marks another step in how the company is shaping agentic AI for education by making its extensive course library, created by world-class experts and grounded in proven pedagogy, accessible through trusted AI agents. As AI evolves from general-purpose models toward more specialized experiences, McGraw Hill’s collaboration with Microsoft gives educators a secure way to access McGraw Hill educational content to support personalized teaching and learning needs in real time, while protecting the value of McGraw Hill’s content, authors and learning solutions.
“AI represents a new growth opportunity for McGraw Hill, enabling us to bring our trusted content to more people, in more ways, across a growing range of platforms,” said Dave Cortese, Chief Digital Information Officer at McGraw Hill. “Our collaboration with Microsoft demonstrates how we can expand into new channels while maintaining control over how our content is used and valued. These relationships complement our core business by enabling us to meet educators and students where they already are, making McGraw Hill content seamlessly available within the digital ecosystem they use every day.”
“The next chapter of AI in education will be shaped by experiences that are grounded in credible content and connected to the way teaching and learning actually happen,” said Deirdre Quarnstrom, Vice President, Microsoft Education Experiences. “McGraw Hill is an important partner not only because of the quality and credibility of its content, but because of its scale, reach and the trust it has built with educators over generations. Bringing those strengths to Microsoft Copilot can help educators create more relevant learning experiences while giving institutions a secure, governed way to adopt AI responsibly.”
The work with Microsoft builds on McGraw Hill’s broader strategy to help educators and students use AI responsibly and effectively, extending the company’s work beyond its growing portfolio of AI tools embedded in McGraw Hill’s digital learning products, including AI Reader, Sharpen, Learning Studio, Writing Assistant, Teacher Assistant and other AI-powered solutions designed to meet specific teaching and learning needs.
